Match Info: Ashton Town (H), Tuesday 21st September (7.45pm KO)

We take on Ashton Town in a re-arranged game from August this Tuesday evening at the Neuven Stadium, kick off 7.45pm with gates open from 6.30pm.

Following last weekend’s 0-0 draw away to Garstang, gaffer Andy Welsh will be looking to an improved performance as we resume in front of a home crowd after back-to-back away fixtures. The game brought about our first competitive clean sheet, and with a good result at Northwich Victoria in the FA Vase the week before is still fresh in the minds, the squad remain unbeaten in 2021/22 so far. A win would take us level on points with Golcar at the summit of the NWCFL Division One North, ahead of the following league game and the Huddersfield-based outfit the next visitors to the Neuven on the Saturday 2nd October.

It is, therefore, all to play for against Ashton Town this week. The visitors secured a 3-0 win away at bottom club, St Helen’s Town last time out in the league and sit in 9th before the game with 14 points from the opening nine games.

Kit Out The Nation

One of the long known problems surrounding access to sport and exercise is the affordability of kit.  The current situation has been compounded by the pandemic, and this is our chance to help to improve both the physical and mental wellbeing of a lot of kids in Bury.

Some parts of Bury Metropolitan Borough are amongst the most deprived in the UK. You could make a real difference to a young person’s ability to access sport by donating good condition sports kit that you don’t need, don’t want anymore or is simply lying around unused.

Kit Out the Nation’ is a month long BBC Make a Difference campaign (Saturday 4th September – 2nd October) aimed at taking in and distributing unwanted, good condition sports kit and getting it to children and teenagers who need it in England. You can read about Bury AFC’s part in this here.

Anyone attending Tuesday night’s game against Ashton can drop off clean, bagged sports kit at the Shakers Community gazebo outside the ground and we will ensure it goes to a schools in the area to help children take part in sport.
