On Saturday we play travel to Squires Gate for our second pre season fixture of the 2021/22 campaign. Paul Adams travelled over to Blackpool to get the low down and find out more about our upcoming opponents. The ride to Squires Gate was just less than an hour and took the route that should be familiar to most folk who have memories of trips to Bloomfield Road.
Picking up the motorway at Whitefield heading towards Bolton. Following the route onto the M61 and merging onto the M6 at Preston. I came off the M6 at junction 32 and heading towards Blackpool on the M55.
As the motorway ends and just past the Tesco on the right, take a left at the roundabout onto Progress Way, signposted Blackpool and Fylde industrial estate. Take a right at the next roundabout and shortly after a left onto Midgeland Road at the traffic lights. At the end of the road, turn right onto School Road. The ground is on the right, just before the next traffic lights.
There is a small car park in front of the ground and very little off-street parking. So it might be worth going past the ground and over the next set of lights. The pitch looked nice and flat. The nets weren’t up as it looked like they were still getting it match ready. The ground itself has a couple of covered stands and a small clubhouse that doesn’t sell draft ale. However, turn right outside the ground and right again at the traffic lights, and there is a large Green King pub, The Shovels, less than 5 minutes walk away.
For those nipping into Blackpool, first head out of the centre past the Pleasure Beach and at Starr Gate turn left onto Squires Gate Lane. Go past the airport on the right and the Half Way House pub on the left and turn right onto Common Edge Road, and the Shovels is on the left.

By train
The nearest train station is Squires Gate which is approximately 1.9 miles from the stadium. When you arrive at the station, turn right onto Squires Gate Lane and walk 1.3 miles until you reach Common Edge Road, turn right. Walk 0.4 miles, you will walk past The Shovels pub and then take the next left onto School Road. The stadium will be on the left.
Bus Travel
There are bus stops right outside the ground, and also Common Edge road (opposite The Shovels).
