Bury AFC Join Fair Game

We are delighted to announce that today, along with Accrington Stanley, we are joining Fair Game, an organisation aiming to change the way football is governed.

You can read the full Pres Release with statements from Andy Holt and Phil Young here.

Fair Game is a collective of football clubs who want to see football governed with fairness, openness and transparency at its core. A sport that helps and nourishes the football pyramid, and honours the mantra that football can be a force for good and is at the heart of the community it serves.

Bury AFC join AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge United, Grimsby Town, Luton Town, Newport County AFC, Exeter City FC and Accrington Stanley as members and want to encourage more to join.

The four principles which Fair Game wants clubs across England and Wales to sign up to are:

Sustainability
A financial structure that is fairer and more responsible

Integrity
Greater recognition of, and protections for, current competitions

Independent regulation
Regulation that rewards and encourages good management

Community
Embedded and structured fan engagement at all clubs

I fully agree with this campaign
All levels of football have got to become Community Focussed and take a leaf out of how many lower league clubs are now run with the local community being a focal point.
Expectations need to be realistic for all clubs, after all ,only a handful, will achieved any form of Honours in any given season.
Success on the pitch should only be part of it and the sooner more clubs accept that, the sooner the beautiful game will begin to flourish again.
Keep up the great work you are doing..
