After a couple of very busy but exciting weeks of trials and further training sessions the Bury AFC Women team have signed on a further nine players to bolster their squad for the coming campaign.
19 year old Caitlin Clancy joins us after stints playing with FC United, Bury FC and Bolton Wanderers. A member of the Women’s football committee described her as “one of the most exciting players we’ve seen yet”.
21 year old Forward Murron Alldread has played for two of the best women’s sides in the North west in Brighouse Town and Bolton Wanderers. We cant wait to see her in action in royal blue and white.
Bury local Chantelle Stanley joins Bury AFC Women as Goalkeeper. We are Chantelle’s first club! Welcome to AFC!
Ellie Whittle, The 21 year old forward, is a name that some Bury football fans may be familiar with as she has previously played for Bury FC Ladies. Since moving on Ellie played for FC united.
Another former Bury FC player 22 year old Chloe May joins us after spending time with clubs such as Manchester Girls, Bury Women and Heyside. We are excited to welcome her to the club!
Lauren Howarth has played for several British Army teams through her career. This tough defender will hopefully be able bring a level of experience and some of that army style discipline to the Bury AFC Women back line.
32-year-old midfielder Rachel Henry joins AFC having previously played for Burnley. Leaving football to concentrate on netball in her youth, Rachel played for England u-17s alongside spells for Manchester Thunder and Loughborough Lightning in the Netball Super League. She now returns to football, having recently coached YWCA Bury Netball Senior team.
20 year old Megan Manton joins us after previous seasons at great women’s clubs such as Bolton and Brighouse.
And, last but by no means least we are happy to announce the signing of 24 year old forward Hayley Wilford. Hayley joins us from West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League team Solihull Ladies.
